UPDATE 26/03/20
The most recent update is that the 30-minute restrictions on hairdressing have since been removed.
At this time we are using this opportunity to stay open and service existing clients only.
We recommend that current clients come in urgently for maintenance or removal of their extensions.
However, there is still the possibility at some point soon hair salons may be forced to close. We do not recommend that you go longer than 6 to 8 weeks between maintenance appointments, and it is unknown knows how long we could be in lockdown for.
So, please consider the health of your hair during this time if you can’t get to maintenance appointments, and consider taking a short break from your hair extensions.
UPDATE 25/03/20
Please still read the rest blog below this update to inform yourself of our updates to hygiene practices and social distancing during this time.
As you may or not be aware, the Prime Minister announced that from 12am 25/03/20 hairdressing services will be restricted to a maximum 30 minutes.
On the one hand, this means we can remain open and operate, for now, however, 30 minutes appointments severely restrict what services we provide.
What this means for you:
As you are well aware most of your normal appointments usually take at least an hour or two.
So for now, whilst we can remain open we are staying here for our clients but we recommend that clients use the 30 min appointments to;
Come in for a removal of their extensions. Once this situation has resolved we can reinstall them in the future.
Or we can remove most of your hair extensions and just maintain a small amount of them which can be completed in 30 minutes
However, bear in mind, I think there is a strong possibility at some point we will go into full lockdown which will prevent us from working. We do not recommend that you go longer than 6 to 8 weeks between maintenance appointments and nobody knows how long we could be in lockdown for.
So, please consider the health of your hair during this time if you can’t get to maintenance appointments.
Please contact me to discuss your personal circumstances, the way we approach this will vary for each of you, there is no best approach for everyone. Let’s work together to figure out what will service you best, and keep everybody safe during this time.
I feel like a lot of this goes without saying at this point, but I thought that we should reach out and update you all on our short and long term action plan.
Here’s what we are doing to maintain a clean and safe environment for you, your loved ones and our team.
Health is our top priority
DURING THIS TIME OUR CLEANING REGIME HAS BEEN INCREASED;
Upon arrival to your appointment please use the hand sanitiser provided.
We are well-stocked with disinfectants, sanitisers and cleaning supplies.
There is a rigorous cleaning schedule in place to sanitise materials, tools, towels, capes, and frequently touched surfaces in between every customer.
During this time there will be no salon magazines provided, feel free to bring your own entertainment to enjoy during appointments.
Our team have completed the Australian Government Department of Health COVID-19 infection control training.
We will not accept any clients with symptoms, no exceptions.
Please delay your appointment for a minimum of 14 days if you or anybody you have been in close contact with in the last 2 weeks is sick.
Please delay your appointment for a minimum of 14 days if you or anybody you have been in close contact with has travelled in the last 2 weeks.
Friendly client reminder of personal hygiene standards in the salon: frequent hand washing or sanitiser, hands-off greetings, covering coughs and sneezes.
Please do not bring any extra guests to your appointments.
(Update 20/3/20) Due to social distracting rules requiring 4m2 for enclosed spaces our studio can only legally have 2 people per appointment (our stylist and the client.)
Salon Sick Policy: Team members with flu-like symptoms are required to not work and will seek medical clearance before returning to work.
We are a small business and appreciate every one of our customers, and your support during this time. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment please try to give us as much notice as possible.
In the long term, we suspect there is a possibility that the economic climate will create a supply shortage, or at least push up the price of supplies.
For clients, this means that in the future new hair extensions may be unavailable for a short time, or there may be a price increase from suppliers that we will have to pass along.
We ask regular clients who are planning on purchasing new hair to consider putting down deposits and pre-paying to secure stock of hair extensions, and the current prices.
Once you have put down a pre-purchase deposit we will set aside a set of extensions for you for an agreed period of time.
Structure for deposits:
25% deposit for 1 month
50% deposit for 2 months
75% deposit for 3-4 months
100% deposit for 6-8 months
The balance will be due upon installation.
Please note: These deposits are NON-Refundable.
Colour swaps depend on the availability of hair extensions at the time.
If you need to extend the length of time we are holding extensions fo you, then you will need to pay the next deposit for the longer time period or the original deposit will be forfeit.
We understand that these are scary and uncertain times, but please be assured that we are trying our best to maintain a normal, relaxed, happy and safe environment for our clients.
These are the current steps we are taking and we will remain informed and follow official guidelines as they are updated.
Stay happy, positive and don’t forget to take care of each other. These difficult times will pass.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss.
Sending (appropriately socially distanced) digital hugs to you all 🙏🏼
